“This is going to be beyond the Inner Harbor in Baltimore,” chimed in Deputy Mayor for Planning and Economic Development Victor Hoskins. “This is going to be beyond National Harbor.”

Bring it!

After countless years and seemingly endless business and resident consternation, the massive redo of the Southwest Waterfront known as The Wharf is finally happening—for real this time! And superlatives aside, dwarfing National Harbor and/or Baltimore’s Inner Harbor is a VERY tall order, so for Mr. Hoskins to make such a grandiose proclamation (and I’m going to assume that he should know), that seems to be saying a lot!

To wit, the completed Wharf will feature 200,000 square feet of retail, 435,000 square feet of offices, 240 condos, 648 apartments (including 135 affordable units for people making under 60 percent of area median income), three hotels (comprising 680 hotel rooms), a mile-long promenade, a movie theater, a music venue (built and run by 9:30 Club/I.M.P. owner Seth Hurwitz), a public park, an expanded marina with 450 newly-added marina slips, and me . . . chillin’!!!
