Last night, Covenant Baptist UCC (CB) hosted a cordial, lengthy, yet informative meeting with the specific Bellevue residents of 1st and 2nd Streets, SW, relating to its intent to create a 30-unit senior living apartment complex, replete with education & wellness center, parking garage, courtyard, and most contentiously, severely limited (dedicated) parking spaces for the aforementioned 30 units. As this blogger and several attending residents were unaware of not only that meeting, but also of CB’s intent to create a senior living complex (until the zoning proposal sign appeared on their property), “informative” took on a much more significant meaning.
One of the many things that came out of the meeting, however, was my request to assist in the efficacy and transparency of the process by using this blog to disseminate information to not only augment CB’s mailing efforts, but also as a repository for information and materials centric to this process, irrespective of how it ultimately evolves. To that end, I’ll post all information and renderings made available, in addition to any information that the church request(s) be posted in reference to this topic/process.
All that notwithstanding, it’d be really nice if Bellevue’s seemingly invisible ANC was a part of this process. ANY PART! I’m just sayin’ . . .
Stay tuned . . .
[ UPDATE • Ray Nix, the articulately unflappable project developer of NIXDEVCO, LLC, was generous enough to pass along two renderings of the proposed project (many thanks, my good man!). It should also be noted that this project is pending zoning consideration. ]
