One of the MANY reasons for purchasing my home in Bellevue was not only its proximity to the Anacostia river and its majestic views, but also the inevitability of interacting with the river in ways that may not yet be actualized. Specifically, the continued evolution and “fixing” of the Anacostia will give way to—among many other things—more of what’s already happening at the Capitol Riverfront (Uh . . . yes, please!), a new Frederick Douglass Memorial Bridge, the very nice new local 11th Street Bridge, and ultimately culminating in a swimmable river estimated for 2032.

Washington Post’s Express has a wonderful cover story entitled “The Anacostia’s New Flow, which illuminates the active and fitness-focused projects centric to the Anacostia. Looks like this blogger’s gonna have to try his hand at kayaking!
