And if they do, put my name on the list for a window seat!
Mayoral candidate Andy Shallal continues to dangle that Busboys & Poets carrot—and we’re still reaching for it! Only this time though, we know where to reach; either the former American Furniture store at 2004 Martin Luther King Jr. Ave. SE, or the city-owned and much-debated Big K lot in the 2200 block of MLK. And while not in Bellevue proper, it’d be the closest one to us, so I’d happily patronize it!
Having said that, Bellevue’s under-construction Trinity Plaza Condo development is looking for a restaurant/cafe tenant (YOU LISTENIN’ MR. SHALLAL!!!) . . . of which Busboys & Poets would fit the bill quite swimmingly! So if neither of those locations work out, we urge you to please kindly consider 3939 South Capitol Street, SW for your restaurant location needs.
On a very curious note, however, the developer of Trinity Plaza Condos, City Interests, lists on its “Under Development” page, details about the “South Capitol Shopping Center” project (right next to Trinity Plaza, for those unfamiliar), which reads:
South Capitol Shopping Center
- 66,000 sq ft shopping center located in the Bellevue/Washington Highlands neighborhood of Ward 8
- Re-development to include a 50,000 sq ft primary care center (which I assume is not Community of Hope), 37,000 sq ft of Class A office, 36,000 sq ft of retail, 150 mixed income residential units and structured parking
Hmmmmm. Stay tuned, intrepid readers!
